Welcome everyone to a special, late edition of the Holocron =). We had some fairly big news this past Friday… the Bounty Hunter class! To all those future Bounty Hunters, Cheers! To everyone else, yeah yeah besides Sith and Jedi they were a shoe in as far as “iconic” classes. I predict smuggler being the next class revealed to lock in all of the most “iconic” classes, from there we can all guess on what’s left.
So with the big news I did spot a few cool things out of the video, and I’m going to start with all of you lightsaber swinging fans. It’s funny that even though we got a video, my first piece is going to be of some concept art. So what do we see here? If you take a look at the Jedi with the Green saber take note of how he’s gripping it. Yes that is a reverse grip style and maybe just maybe we won’t have to see every single Sith and Jedi holding their sabers exactly alike. To the immediate left of the Jedi somewhat further back, we see a Jedi finishing off a Sith through the stomach. Through the gameplay video’s we’ve seen so far I think it’s safe to say there are finishing moves(think fatalities in Mortal Kombat). But so far we haven’t seen any actual impaling of sabers into other characters, if this concept art stays true to the rest we may just see that happen. I wonder if that raises the ESRB Rating a little?

Next we will move on to some lightsaber color, I think it’s our first time seeing a color beyond Blue and Red in some actual game footage, Green! But not only that, it’s pretty quick but we all get to see our favorite bad ass’ color Purple!
To finish off with the sabers I want to make a quick note about size, I noticed someone complaining in the comments that the blades actually started looking really short now. But what I’ve noticed is that even within the same shots that they look small there are others right next to them with longer ones… So I’m gonna chalk it up to some more lightsaber customization. Maybe when you start you only have access to short lightsaber crystals, if you want to further analyze that; if they have short sabers it would be safe to say we will be able to dual wield sabers as far as the KOTOR system goes with the whole balance issue.
Moving on, we get to see some Bounty Hunters in action, showing off their jetpacks, and wrist-mounted flame throwers! Once again I read somewhere that some people were already trying to say that their jet packs were already overpowered. So to the people out there who think this, watch the video again; he only goes into flight for his finisher. He could definitely have an attack that makes use of his jetpack and I personally would love if I had to chase him down or even force jump to continue attacking him. The old tired out combat of standing face to face and mashing buttons is over, the more movement the better. ![]() I’m going to go out on a limb and say we got to see a first generation T3 type droid companion; considering the characters very basic appearance… And the training wheel attached to the droid =D
The next piece is very much speculative but for all you space enthusiasts I believe there is still hope. From screen shot to screen shot we sometimes catch a ship landing or taking off in videos we can catch them flying by.

But now we actually get to see some giant cruisers taking flight above the atmosphere, on one hand it could just be for atmosphere but on the other hand its hope. Pilot would definitely fit under iconic, so till we hear that there won’t be any space combat don’t count pilots out just yet.

Finally we got an extremely well done piece of concept art that may give us a taste of another class. I’d either call him Officer to stick with the Star Wars theme or maybe a commander. MMO speaking it could be the class where you have a few NPC’s always at your disposal doing your dirty work for you. Or it could just be a soldier amongst a bunch of other npc soldiers >=).
And that about does it for this week’s Holocron, I hope you enjoyed it! And sorry everyone for the delay! See you again next week! If you would like to discuss any of the article you can here. Darth Kraze blog comments powered by Disqus |
