Seems that us fans of The Old Republic have a few tantalizing things to talk about since yesterday.  On Monday we saw hints of Beta testing signups.  A thread in the official SW:TOR forums spoke of the beta sign up leak and started a forest fire of discussions about the beta.  When is it going to be real?  Who will Bioware let in to the Beta?  Is the game really that far into production?  We have news of a Beta, yet we don't even know our last few classes, or even if we can play other races.  Now we have an official release of the beta (this is the Facebook note release of the beta since the main site is down due to overwhelming response).

We may be getting ahead of ourselves here.  This is just for Beta signups, Bioware has said nothing about when or if the Beta will start.  The entire community of SW:TOR needs to sit back and take a collective deep breathe about this.  Yes, we have Beta signups going on, but should we expect an email from Bioware saying we got in the millisecond after we have signed up? No.  Patience my young padawans, all good things will come in time.  It's like trying to get a date; you have to act cool and almost like you are not interested.  Then when you get the date (the beta email) then you can jump for joy.  Until then, play it cool.

You must be thinking, "But great and amazing Malice, I can't stay calm, I want to know the other classes and races".  Well, we have already assumed that the next classes will be a Sith Agent type, Officer type, Jedi (duh), and even a Noble type.  The only way Bioware could surprise us is with a droid assassin or something entirely weird like a Wookie Druid.  "What about the races, Darth Malice?"  I'm going to have to retract my first blog, Playable Races Rant, and say that we are only going to be human.  With news of a Beta on our doorstep and no hints about any other races than human I am beginning to believe that we will only be human in the end.  I'll give you all a moment to mourn...  Done?  Oh not yet, well I'm moving on anyway.

I hope I have given you all some insight into this Beta signup release.  Don't be surprised if there are no racial choices.  This game is amazing already with the full voice acting for every character, light and dark side choices, new planets, and all kinds of goodies, we can't expect this to be perfect.  Expecting perfection only leads to disappointment.  I'm not saying don't lose hope on playing as another race, just don't be pissed when you can't play the amazing Jedi Twi'lek you always wanted.  Lastly, anyone can get into the Beta (so long as they fulfill the age and other requirements), but don't expect Bioware to be begging you to play the Beta just because you are "the best, most hardcore, number one, amazing, coolest, and most qualified fan".  If you are not a chosen one, shrug it off.  A friend of mine once told me that playing in a beta is like opening your Christmas (or whatever holiday you celebrate) presents early and then re-opening them on Christmas Day, it's not as amazing the second time around.
